Gender mainstreaming in Germany

The article gives an overview of the historical development of the school culture from the Middle Ages up to the present day. On the one hand it considers the situation and participation of girls and boys and on the other, it demonstrates the development and continuation of gender-related extracurricular educational work in Germany. Addi­tionally, the current educational gender perspective is outlined in relation to its mis­sion, objectives and content, with regard to gender homogeneous and coeducational approaches in schools and outside schools.
